TOUCH GRASS

One of the new slang phrases for people that keep so much online is ‘touch grass’. People that spend several hours online, watching movies and TikToking, can disconnect with reality and eventually feel reality is not real, they then coin their new normal which in effect is abnormal! I remember one day watching a very absorbing movie, at that time in history my house was not self contained, so to answer the call of nature I needed to step out and find the washroom a few meters behind the house. The thing though is that nature’s call came when i was deep in the movie, and right there in that movie, it was raining heavily. As nature raised it’s voice i had no option but to pause the movie and answer the call. quickly i looked for the umbrella to step out and get behind to the bathrooms.

Now, I was shocked because, there was no need for the umbrella, the clouds were clear and the sun was shining. The rain in the movie had gotten in my brains. I had to touch grass! In my real world it was not raining, but my mind had shifted to dwell in the movie world.

The bible teaches us that the invisible things were made out of the visible (Hebrews 11:3). I find that many people fall on one extreme at the expense of the other. Some people of faith stretch that faith to mysticism, while the other group is so obsessed by science and evidence and reject faith, to both geoups i say, touch grass! Both worlds exist! The writer of psalms challenges those who write off the role of God in our lives, and says taste and see that the Lord is good (psalms 34:8)!

Those who see the invisible and live by faith, I challenge you that even common sense is a gift that we cannot ignore, before you ascend to the sixth dimension, validate your sense of smell, touch, feel, hear and taste. Do not ignore the natural things, God’s power is seen in nature itself. Waking up, having a job to do, staying with a loving family, good leadership are reality that we often take for granted. Touch grass!!, do not be taken by a linear world view, open your heart and mind to realities but more importantly to the biggest reality, God the author of life.

I find that God is the locus point from where the invisible and the visible converge. When we stand at another reference point things are blurry! we might carry an umbrella and those watching are wondering, what on earth is going on, and yet in our fantasy world it is raining cats and dogs!

Touch grass and be real, but what is real? Reality is properly understood at a locus vantage place and that place is God through Jesus. ‘For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together’ Collosians 1:16.

Trouble arises when we get mystical and ignore nature or if we get scientific and ignore super-nature. Nature finds essence when we look at it from the creators manual and science finds essence when it builds on omnsicience.

Hey, how much time are you spending online, touch grass! Hey how much time are you spending in spiritual superstition, touch grass!

I am concerned that  extremism at any front is making common sense rare and in the process ushering in no-sense. Touch grass, start from common sense and see God in it or even science in it. Always stand at the Locus point where all things find true meaning.

Touch grass do not disonnect with reality, not because of your faith nor your science, by the way these two are mutually inclusive.
