No plan B

We are required to plan and to make assumptions about the future. Some people say plan for the worst and expect the best. The African adage states that “we should not put our eggs in one basket”. To put it more contemporary today’s managers must have plan B just in case plan A does not work.
This viewpoint augurs well with relativism and subjectivity. Jesus announcement in John 14:6 is firm and in sharp contrast with plan B, “I’m the way, the truth and the life. The use of the article “the” simply give no alternatives or call them plan Bs, it does not get any easier when he adds, No one goes to the father except through me. This is not in line with ‘All roads lead to Rome’, inclusiveness or even ecumenism. The matters of going to God the father (the way), the matters of faith and belief(truth) and the matters of eternity(life) have no plan B. We are either in or out, we cannot be lukewarm, we are either cold or hot. We cannot be a sheep- goat hybrid, we are either sheep or goat. Do not read me wrong, I am accommodative, tolerant and believe in social inclusiveness and love for all, however we must as well be sure to draw lines regarding the absolutes of faith. Jesus is the only way, truth, and life
The bigger argument arises when the things of God are not meeting my needs, what if I seem to be getting wrong results in this Way- truth - life journey, can I have plan B that does not involve faith or God. The answer is, there is no plan B, God is your ultimate and he is good even when your circumstances do not seem to be good. Come let us return to God if he has wounded us, he will bind us (Hosea 6:1). When I discipline my children, they come back to me in their tears, they do not begin to figure out who else can be their Dad. I am the father to them not a father to them. They have settled this fact deep in their souls no one can develop a theory to change it. When you know the truth and surrender to the truth in trust you cease to waver, you live beyond assumptions and your faith, belief and walk are firmly established to one thing.
Jesus told Martha one thing is important and Mary has chosen that one thing (Luke 10:42). Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing (1 King 18:21). Moreover, James says a double minded person is unstable in all his ways (James 1:8). When Jesus took Peter, James and John to the Mount, Elijah, and Moses all appeared next to him, this seemed to introduce confusion in the mind of Peter. Peter quickly suggested, let us build three tents for each of our saviors, let us have Moses (the Law), let us have Elijah (the prophet) and Jesus (salvation). If it is a matter of prophecy, I can go to the Elijah tent, if it is the law, I can swing to the Moses tent. God would not put up with all these plan Bs, he spoke from heaven, his voice was resolute, this is my son, not these are my sons, hear him. They all fell to the ground and when they got up, they saw no man other man except Jesus (Matthew 17:8).
In your regular life you can do all simulations and scenarios and have back up plans
etc. but when it gets to the way the truth and the life you need only one plan- JESUS! It is time to be resolute, single minded and all sold out to one pursuit, the rest must be supplemental.
