The revived evil spirit of Sodom!!

Friends I do not know what’s pushing at your door! In the days of Lot, the spirit in Sodom was that of immorality, more so men wanting to have sex with fellow men. This was so annoying to God that he determined to burn down the entire city. Men pushed on Lot’s door because they wanted sex with two men who had visited Lot. The only thing that could restrain God would be a quorum of righteous people.

Abraham made one of the greatest negotiations with God ever. He pleaded with him on numbers of righteous souls. He argued that for their sake Sodom would be spared. As it turned out there was no quorum! Genesis 18:32; Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”

However, the man Lot, was counted as righteous albeit his earlier selfish behavior regarding Abraham. One of the reasons why he was considered righteous was the way he did not condone the homosexuality behavior in Sodom and credited righteousness because he accepted the one true God. (2 Peter 2:7: But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him).

The Spirit of Sodom: Sodom was drunken in immorality, the men were out of control, they had no second thoughts about rape not to mention perverted sexual orientation. No wonder the practice of men having sex with men is today called (sodomy). (Jude 1:7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.’)

Gatekeeper: Lot was at the Gate of Sodom on one of the evenings, I’m not sure what he was watching out for but as the people of Sodom allude, he was a judge at the city gate, we also note though the positioning at the gate enables him to see what is coming to the city and discern the entrance of good and the entrance of evil. As he was at the gate, two angels came, and Lot bowed down and worshipped them. Note that it was spontaneous for him to discern God’s visitation and take it seriously. God’s visitation as it turned out was a rescue mission for him and his household.

Housekeeper: The men at Sodom had an evil spirit pushing them in erratic ways, they attacked the house of Lot wanting to have sex with the two men at Lot’s house, little did they know the men were angels. Genesis (19:4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them”). Lot pleaded with the men, and in fact even offered his daughters but the men preferred they wanted sex with fellow men. Lot was so desperate that he was choosing between two evils, the ethics of choosing a worse devil seems to be at play, his girls are virgins but in his view it’s a less evil than sodomizing his male guests. Look how the World is adjusting this evil, providing hollow philosophical arguments that are so rationalized. (Colossians 2:8 ‘Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ”).

The Revived Spirit of Sodom: The last couple of years, I feel the same spirit is back in different forms, the spirit is rationalized and disguised in rights. Think about this, if some kids have natural habits of peeing on their beds even when they are getting older. Should we start a movement to stop parents from helping children know that this is not a natural design, and that the Children should work at disciplining themselves to get up and go to the bathroom, to sense the triggers and fight them. Some of our vulnerabilities can be reversed rather than cheered, if you naturally fear or easily get angry, we should not encourage you to be fearful or shout at people but support you to be bold and self-controlled and work at your fears and your anger bursts. if the spirit of Sodom is knocking at our families, our churches, our nations, we need to get help from God! We do not need to adjust to conform to evil, but be sick as was Lot, and maintain righteousness.

An Act of God: As the men were forceful on Lot’s house, the angels pulled Lot into the house closed the door and the angels struck the immoral men with blindness so that they could not find the door of Lot’s house.

Note

The Gate: We need Gate keepers, and you must be a gate keeper. You must be able to see what is entering your city, philosophies, and unnatural endorsements that are being passionately and erratically pushed over to the nations. At the gate, the Lord is also sending his angels on a rescue mission for the household of faith. Can you notice the Lord’s visitation? are you a discerner of what is good and godly? Embrace it and carry it home.

The House: Your House must be a house of faith, Lot in the middle of a perverted generation had two virgin daughters. His house had opened its doors to angels. On that fateful night the angels, were in the house to fight for him. Who do you have in your house! Jesus stands at door and knocks if you open, he will dine with you! It is a tough time for parents, and we need a rescue mission from God.

The door: The evil men pushed against the door, that’s how close it is. Pornography is at the door, and it is pushing through apps! This season’s overarching question is, how do we lock out evil that’s pushing so hard and even getting legalized. It just has to be divine; it just has to be a striking from God! We are not wise or strong enough to resist, yet when we discern the angel of God at the gate, we must persuade him to come to our house.

God is counting: Are you in the number of those restraining his anger or are you in the number igniting his anger? Are you taking the immoral level lightly or is it sickening you? Are you watching the gate, protecting your household, and guarding your door? Are you bringing the presence of divinity home, the only rescue mission for the immoral crisis akin to Sodom! This time it not Abraham doing the advocacy, it’s Jesus himself, at the right hand of God, interceding for you and me.
