What is in for me - Deal now!

To be honest I am not great at negotiation especially for the smaller items. I love

capital items where I feel it is worth my time and effort. Sometimes I want to think about what the real deal is in what I am undertaking. This is the default function for humans. Every deal is calculated with the quid pro quo mentality.

The real deal though, is often surrounded by assumptions (ceteris paribus) and sometimes those assumptions don’t hold, who would imagine that American oil would go below zero price, the legal guys will introduce phrases such as 'force majeure' others will be bold enough to say, it is an “Act of God”

The greatest transaction that is not prone to force majeure in any case the true Act of God, is what I call the unfair exchange. He who had no sin took our sins that we may have God’s righteousness, (2 Corinthians 5:21) What a deal!

The trouble is, this is too good to be true to a philosophical or logical mind, that is why it eludes us. As a young couple we bought a very small plot of land and as we started putting a house on it, we were stopped by land authorities. I took the letter to church and asked someone to pray with me over the issue, at the end of the prayer I got a phone cal,l and the person introduced himself to me as a boss in the land authority, he asked me to meet him at the site. After asking me some questions on how I had bought the plot, he told me that all that land was available if I wanted a bigger chunk I could have it,

This was too good to be true for me and I hesitated and asked to retain what I had bought. As it turned out the deal was real and given to another man who believed the deal, I regretted my unbelief bitterly. The story that ran in media of the old man that cried when he was charged £500 for oxygen given to him in hospital yet he has never received an invoice from God for the 90 years he had lived is such an eye opener on God’s deals we ignore.

Here are two deals, as you may all realize, other things are like sinking sand. You can receive a priceless treasure called eternal life by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and savior (Roman 10:9-10.).

The other deal is that if you already transacted your sins for righteousness you can walk in newness of life, Proverbs 2:20 says, ‘So you may walk in the way of goodness. And keep to the path of righteousness’. Ephesians 4 :22- 24 explains the process of the exchange to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

The more I trade off my default sinful nature to Jesus thus disable it, I find another function with an icon called, “God’s righteousness” to enable.

Eternal life and newness of life (righteousness) are the unfair deals biased favourably towards me, that is what is in for me. Please Deal now! Enable righteousness, it is not your default function, confess Jesus as Lord and submit to the spirit of newness.

Wow! This is very true, people use smoke and mirrors for most deals in life and forget that every work on earth will be tested by fire (1 Cor 3:13). This is very nourishing, thank you Elder.
